 This ain't your Daddy's Big WheelMar 11, 2012

All my sons wore the wheels off of their Big Wheels in late 70's & early 80's so I bought my Grandson one. At first I bought him a 16 inch for his birthday but it was a little to big. Not wanting him to have to grow into it, I returned it and purchased an 11 inch. When I opened the box and saw all of the decals to install I should have known trouble was on it's way. The 16 inch did not have decals to install but the 11 inch, well that's a different story. I sucked it up because this is for my only grandson and I mean I figure it was duty. After installing all of the decals, the fork, handlebars, pedals and front wheel, I could see the finish line. Then it happen. I put the rear axle thru the first wheel, then thru the body and finally the other rear wheel.. Last step right? It should have been but guess what, the axle that was in box, toooooo short. I don't really know what to say except if you buy the 16 inch you will probably be ok but I would stay away from any of the 11 inch models. The bottom line is that I have a Big Wheel that is useless and I am very disappointed in Big Wheel and Empire Toys and Alpha International..

This product contains terrible instructions that are almost useless that combined with an extremely difficult assembly process for a child's product. Any parents or grandparents that are considering purchasing this product should consider the high level of frustration that one will experience during assembly. Be prepared for this.

Purchased the Sidewalk Screamer for my grandson's 3rd birthday. Ordered it early which was a good thing because although it shipped right on time, I had a big problem assembling it. Got to the last step without much difficulty and determined then, as others have noted, that the rear axle was way too short. Found the number for the manufacturer on the directions and arranged for them to send out a longer axle that arrived several days later and although it was longer than the original, it was still about an inch too short. A second call to the manufacturer resulted in them sending out yet another axle which was cut to the exact size I requested. I thought the chance of this arriving in time for his birthday were slim to none but I received it the day before and finished assembling the bike successfully.
Bottom line, my grandson loves it--his 5 year old brother also loves it--but the manufacturer really needs to get their act together. I was, though, pleased with their personal customer service (someone actually answered the phone!) and ultimate resolution of my problem.

We purchased the Sidewalk Screamer (girls version) from another store and were having a difficult time assembling it. We thought about returning it but instead I emailed Kids Only Toys asking for assistance - to hopefully get better directions than the ones that came in the box. Within 30 minutes Corey from their company called me and was able to resolve my problems and now we have a perfectly assembled Big Wheel that is going to be a perfect size and color for a two year old!! I am so impressed with the distributor's customer service that I would not hesitate to purchase other products they handle. My gauge of a good company is not just how well made a particular product is but how do they handle problems. Kids Only Toys definitely earned five stars plus!!

I was so excited about this product as I always wanted one when I was little but never had one. (Yes I remember the commercials!) Such a disappointment the tricycle was to big for our boy and we measured. I also hate that there isn't a back support of some sort very hard for little ones to stay on. Overall I feel it was a complete waste of money. We also bought the girls one and that one has even more problems!
